Maybe you're different, but I find studying the Bible much easier in the morning when the house is quiet and my head's clear. I also find a hot beverage (be it coffee or tea) helps me meditate greatly. And on the weekends, a great stress reliever is a date with my wife at a quiet coffee shop. Most people I know enjoy drinking coffee, but I'm always surprised when I find out that they've never tried anything that's not a grocery store brand or starbucks (you don't know what you're missing).
So I'm going to tell you where to get the best coffee in Tuscaloosa. In descending order:
Honorable Mention: Edgar's Bakery - They have a great frozen coffee drink (try the mocha), and you can eat free samples of cake while you wait. Good sandwiches too.
So I'm going to tell you where to get the best coffee in Tuscaloosa. In descending order:
- Kauloosa Coffee - This is the best coffee I've ever had (his light roasts are better than his dark imho). Paul Lasseter roasts the beans locally and sells them by the bag at the RiverMarket and on his website. You can also sit down and enjoy a cup of his coffee at Tea-Town in historic Northport (not a lot of seating, but good atmosphere and they also have amazing hot tea).
- Heritage House - This place is very cool. They have lots of seating and also serve some delicious food, like cream-cheese croissants and cinnamon french toast (made with fresh baked bread and covered in strawberries). Their best coffee is the Bucaramanga (a light roast).
- Edelweiss - This is a German Bakery that happens to also serve delicious German coffee (a fairly dark roast). Their banana nut muffins are also worth checking out.
- Broken Egg Cafe - This one is a chain, and the food is really expensive, but the coffee is good (a dark roast) and you have a view of the river.
